Storm season not only brings hurricanes, but daily thunderstorms too. All these storms wreak havoc on our furry friends. Many will experience anxiety and fear during the storms and their first response is to flee!. Microchips are essential in returning lost pets to the proper family. They allow a vet office or shelter to scan the animal and contact the owner. Now is the time to get your pets chipped and we are offering $10 off during the month of August!! OFFER EXTENDED THROUGH SEPTEMBER!! If your animals are already chipped, make sure you have updated all the contact information with the chip's maker.
We also offer many solutions for animals that have storm anxiety. Ask about Dr. Curry's recommendation for your pet at your next visit or schedule an appointment today to discuss.
Other important steps to take during storm season are:
Having an evacuation plan
Updating all vaccines in case of evacuation and you need to flee to a shelter/hotel
Keeping all vaccine/medical records in one place that will be easy to grab if evacuated
Having enough leashes/kennels for every animal
Storing a surplus of food/water for at least 10 days
Make sure all animals' prescriptions are refilled
Most importantly, if it is not safe for you, it is NOT safe for your animal! DO NOT LEAVE YOUR ANIMAL BEHIND!
