Storm season not only brings hurricanes, but daily thunderstorms too. All these storms wreak havoc on our furry friends. Many will experience anxiety and fear during the storms and their first response is to flee. Microchips are essential in returning lost pets to the proper family. They allow a vet office or shelter to scan the animal and contact the owner. If your animals are already chipped, make sure you have updated all the contact information with the chip's maker.
We offer solutions for animals that have storm anxiety. Ask about Dr. Curry's recommendation for your pet at your next visit or schedule an appointment today to discuss. Other important steps to take during storm season are:
Most importantly, if it is not safe for you, it is not safe for your animal. Please do not leave your animal behind. It's that time of the year again: February is dental month. Dental hygiene is an important part in the care of your pets. Poor dental hygiene is associated with increased inflammation and chance for infection. Poor dental health can lead to health ailments, such as heart disease, oral abscesses, and more. Keeping up with your pets' dental hygiene will keep them healthier and happier. We offer dental cleanings and exams Monday-Friday, and with each cleaning we include a free 14-count bag of Oravet chews for your pet to keep their teeth clean and breath smelling fresh. Call and schedule your pet today for a dental!
One of the main types of canine cases we see at our clinic is itching and allergy issues. We are pleased to offer a new type of relief. From the company that brought you Apoquel we now carry Cytopoint. This injection is offering 4 to 8 weeks of relief for our furry friends. If you've exhausted all other options, please make an appointment to consult with Dr. Curry regarding Cytopoint. Happy Summer!
Spring is here and so are fleas, ticks, and heartworms. We have teamed up with our friends at Merial to bring you some extra special promotions. This spring, not only are we giving out rebates up to 50 dollars, we are also giving out prizes as well. If you purchase a 30 count of Oravet Dental Chews we are giving out a size appropriate Kong toy! If you purchase 12 doses of Heartgard in combination with at least 6 doses of Nexgard we have 30oz RTIC Tumblers available. Please remember flea, tick, and heartworm product is an important part of your pet's preventative care. Happy Spring!
With Spring right around the corner we have events like Mardi Gras, Easter, Spring cleaning, etc. This is a good time to accidentally leave small items lying around. Small bead necklaces, plastic eggs, children's toys are all items that seem fun for a pet to play with but HAVE CAUTION! Occasionally we get a visit from a patient who has been lethargic for a few days, weak, unable to eat or drink, vomiting, and unable to have a bowel movement. Although these my seem like very vague symptoms, combine these with a patient who has a history of getting into the garbage or chewing items left around the house and you have a possible Bowel Obstruction. In simpler terms, the patient has eaten something that has gotten stuck in either the stomach or intestines. If the object does not pass naturally, it must be removed. And exploratory surgery for removal can be quite pricey. Even more scary is if the patient isn't diagnosed in time and the item isn't removed it can be fatal. We know how much you care about your loved one and would just like to warn you of the possible dangers of obstruction. Please take the time this season to pick up any potentially edible item.

That's right... BAD BREATH! Although bad breath is a god reason to get those teeth cleaned, there may be more to it than halitosis. Bad breath can be a symptom for decay, abscesses, and other diseases. There is a whole month dedicated to oral hygiene, it must be important. Please take advantage of the discounts and education offered during the month of February regarding your pet's oral health.
